REZONING
INFO / FORM

Not sure if your project requires a rezoning?

Zoning implements the policies and objectives of the Rural Plan. Zoning protects public interests from potential land use conflicts, provides a legal framework for future development in the community, and helps to manage change.

You may not use or develop your property in a way that does not comply with the permitted uses and development standards for the applicable zone set out in the Rural Plan.  However, you may apply to have the zoning amended through the rezoning process.

If you are undertaking a development or changing the use of your property, it is important to speak to Commission staff to determine if your project complies with the zoning requirements.  If a rezoning is required, Commission staff can provide advice on how to proceed with the application.  Please allow at least six months between the time of application and approval of the rezoning.
