RDPC's MANDATE

The Royal District Planning Commission was established by ministerial order May 1, 1998. The Commission's powers and responsibilities, outlined under section 7(2) of the Community Planning Act, include:

  • development of Rural Plans;

  • approval of new subdivisions;

  • issuance of building permits;

  • inspection of new development and building or construction;

  • providing administrative services;

  • providing views to council; and

  • administration of municipal by-laws and provincial regulations in relation to land use.

As well as being in the planning, design, and regulation industry, the Commission is involved in education and management services and the development of partnerships with the communities it serves.
