ROTHESAY
PARISH PLANNING
AREA
RURAL PLAN
ATTENTION:
The RURAL PLAN for
the Local Service District of Rothesay is being reviewed.
In 2006, the Royal District
Planning Commission met with the residents and landowners of the Parish
of Rothesay to discuss the opportunity for review of the Rothesay Parish
Planning Area Rural Plan. It was decided that the Parish of Rothesay
would join a planning process that was already underway, the Lower
Kennebecasis Rural Plan.
It was the intention that the approach of joining an existing planning
process would be the most efficient way for the Parish of Rothesay to
receive a new rural plan; however the approval of Lower Kennebecasis
Rural Plan has not progressed at the pace envisioned.
At a meeting on April 14th 2010, the Royal District Planning
Commission’s staff met with residents and landowners of the Parish of
Rothesay to offer a rural plan review process specific to Rothesay
Parish and determine how to undertake that separate review. Those in
attendance at the meeting chose to have the Royal District Planning
Commission review the Rothesay Parish Planning Area Rural Plan and
present this review to the public for their comment.
The outcome of this review was presented at an open house in late May
2010. As the result of comments received during this open house, minor
revisions were made to the draft Rural Plan. The draft Rural Plan was
sent to the Department of Environment for their review in June of 2010.
The Department of Environment finished their review at the end of
December 2010.
A Public Hearing has been scheduled for March 14th for
residents and landowners to voice their comments and concerns on the
draft Rural Plan. Please check the Public Hearing link under the News
and Event tab for the date, time, and location of the Public Hearing.
