Notice
The RDPC Building Inspectors are all members of the
New Brunswick Building Officials Association and take courses leading to
various levels of certification for Canadian Building Officials. Our
Building Inspection Team includes certification at the highest level
available through the Alliance of Canadian Building Official
Associations.
The Building Inspector will typically will visit a
home under construction 3 to 4 times; before backfill, at framing,
before drywall, and upon completion. Where any problems are encountered,
the Building Inspector may need to visit additional times to confirm
that the required work is complete.
One’s own lumber can most certainly be used in
construction. It must however be stamped by a qualified grader. Anyone
who expresses the desire to use their own lumber is advised how they
acquire that grading.
RDPC’s
responsibilities have increased substantially since 1998. On average,
the RDPC issues over 700 building permits and approves the creation of
over 200 building lots annually. Since RDPC was established in 1998, two
Villages and three Local Services Districts have been added to RDPC. The
most recent addition of the Village of Gagetown occurred in 2005. In
2002, RDPC became responsible for administering the provincial Building
Regulation throughout the unincorporated areas. Commissioner
representation, staffing, and resulting budget requirements have
increased accordingly since RDPC was established.
